The development team behind The Estates at Acqualina has closed on a $558 million construction loan on September 28, 2018 that will fund the vertical construction and completion of both residential towers at The Estates at Acqualina. The loan enables affiliates of the Trump Group led by Eddie, Jules and Stephanie Trump to complete the residential project where sales and construction of the South tower is already underway. The Trump Group’s ability to secure a loan of this size underscores the project’s appeal and the firm’s track record of development over the past four decades. Bilzin Sumberg partner Alexandra Lehson and Real Estate Department Chair Jim Shindell represented The Trump Group in the transaction. MARKET UPDATE: 6% Rise in Property Values In Miami-Dade County in June 2017 - June 2018
According to the county’s Property Appraiser, as of June 1, overall values are estimated to have risen 6% compared to their level 12 months ago to a whopping $291 billion.
The total gain to the county tax rolls from property values and new construction was 6%, which is a new record for a single 12 month period. Excluding new construction, the gain was 3.9%.
This is a new record but it just about equals the property values in Dade-County from 2007-2008 when adjusted for inflation over time. $256 Billion in June 2007 is worth about $294 Billion Today.

To begin on July 1, “customary use” law,mkaes it harder for local governments to allow unscheduled public access to privately owned beaches for recreational activities.
Under this law, a local government that would like to allow public access to a private beach would need a court order that permits recreation on dry-sand areas of Private Florida beaches.
How do you feel about this new law?

The Castaways - The Lost History of Sunny Isles Beach
Originally named "Fairyland Recreational Island", an amusement park with a Ferris Wheel and more, was planned to be built on the island before the plans were scrapped. Later, the Castaway Hotel was built in 1958 instead.
What is now known as Oceania Island Condominiums at Collins Avenue and 163rd street, was once a perfect example of what the average tourist thought Miami was from the 1950's to the 1970's.
Once known as 'America's Most FUNderful Resort Motel', the Castaways Hotel was designed with Oriental / Neo-Chinese Polynesian Pastiche architecture. It was extravagant and was one of the gems of Miami Beach's "Motel Row".
The motel featured 540 rooms, tennis courts, putting greens and a world famous bar known as the "Wreck Bar". Open from 11AM-5AM, the Wreck bar played live rock'n'roll to its patrons and featured bikini wearing go-go table dancers.
